Knowledge is power.

Very nice guide on how to do do pretty much any maintainence on an Airstream. Easy to read and understand.

I really appreciated the updates from the previous edition. The attention to topics that clearly have come to the attention of the author between editions is readily evident. The increased number of pictures is also helpful. Since it is still snowing in Wisconsin I took time to read most of the "2nd" edition as a way to review items I should pay attention to when I finally have a chance to "de-winterize".

THE 2ND EDITION OF THE GUIDE IS AN EXCELLENT RESOURCE FOR ME AND RECOMMEND ALL AIRSTREAM OPERATORS GET A COPY AND FOLLOW RICH LUHR’s ADVICE AND GUIDANCE ON HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR TRAILER! I HAS BEEN MY MOST IMPORTANT “TRAILER” INVESTMENT.
THIS EDITION OF THE GUIDE HAS A NUMBER OF IMPROVEMENTS OVER THE FIRST EDITION, ESPECIALLY DISCUSSING ELECTRICAL ISSUES SUCH AS THE BENEFIT OF USING AN “ELECTRICAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS)” - SEE PHOTO FROM PAGE 177, TO PROTECT AGAINST LOW/HIGH VOLTAGE THAT CAN HARM OR DESTROY YOUR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I PURCHASED ONE AND USE IT WHENEVER HOOKING UP TO POWER.
I SPEND TIME REVIEWING THE GUIDE BEFORE EVERY OUTING AS A RECENT OWNER OF A 2015 FLYING CLOUD FB23. DON’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT A COPY!

I really love the book and consider it a valuable resource. However, my first significant need to use the book in search of a solution left me somewhat disappointed. I removed the front window stone guards on my 2023 International to clean out the crud that has collected between the guards and the windows. Replacing the guards and attempting to turn the screw fasteners became a significant task. First, the screw fasteners on my International look nothing like what is pictured in your book, page 52, Figure 26. In addition, the force required to retighten these guards was significant. I was extremely concerned that I would strip the screw head. I can only hope that the Air Gear Store will offer some type of replacement for this awful Airstream engineering debacle.

This is my second year owning a 27’ Airstream Globetrotter. There is a lot off stuff to remember and Rich’s new book is a great checklist for beginning the new season. What’s great is that it’s not just a reminder, but also tells me what to do about any problems that come up. I had better get busy. It’s starting to warm up in NJ.

We’ll laid out and an easy read.

Well written for a beginner or an expert.

valuable update, however much is unchanged from the previous edition. I refer to it frequently as I learn to maintain Bumblebee.
Duane C.
Book has most things... first thing I looked at is how to keep pull out steps from getting stuck out of alignment - not addressed in book. Also book arrived a bit damaged. Most everything seems to be addressed, even what user manual doesn't say about Girard water heater - much appreciated for that. Unfortunate my book has some smashed pages - maybe mishandled by USPS.

As a Newbie, I read both books cover to cover and loved them both. Will refer to both of them often as we gain real world experience in our new Caravel FB 22.
Thanks for writing both books and providing great insight with all of your videos!
Robert W.
I have a Interstate 24GT and the book is not what I was looking for. It is only marginally useful to me .

Very useful information.

It's evident from browsing through the book that Rich spent a lot of time detailing the various maintenance items he's included in the book. Clearly he's familiar with many of these tasks and includes a lot of tips that he just wouldn't know to include, without having gone through the maintenance himself.
The book will be a "go to" reference anytime I run into an issue within our Airstream.
Robert T.
Excellent and comprehensive work on these beautiful silver bullets!
Marie M.
Don't leave home without it. A must have travel companion with lot's of info on how-to, what-if, and where to look. If you have a questions or concerns about your Air Stream you'll most likely find the answer in Rich's book or blog posts.

Just what I needed: a "drilled-down-to-the-bottom" maintenance guide that leaves nothing to the imagination, and gives you confidence in DIY'ing.
Highly recommended!

Just love the way Rich breaks down "Airstreaming". The cover the essential areas of Airstream ownership - care and maintenance so you can make a lifetime of memories. The book breaks down the subjects in easy to follow and understand levels of detail with practical steps and solutions. This book is written by an Airstream enthusiast for Airstreamers - it's a must have.

Great addition to Airstream books!!! I’m better prepared to maintain my trailer and keep it problem free for many years to come.

This guide helps us keep in one place the important things we need to know about upkeep on our airstream. I like that it is written for those who don't have an technical of a knowledge of maintenance. I don't want to say dummies, but those of us who need encouragement to tackle the job.
Thanks for your time to write this.
John F.
Very comprehensive guide with vital information not only on process but proper products to use as well.
A must have for the Airstreamer.
Krista H.
I love this book. It saves me a lot of time having reliable answers in one place. I used to go to the internet for answers, but sometimes internet isn’t available when you need it the most. Everyone should have one!
Robert M.
The book is well written and I have just started to use it. It answers several questions I had about my airstream. I am looking forward to using it more in the future.
Juergen P.
This is a practical and no nonsense reference. Perfect for the average RVer.
Edward L.
Don’t buy this expecting a detailed explanation of maintenance procedures. It doesn’t do that. It does however explain how it works and provides generic instruction which would be fine for some.
As for myself, I need more detail.
Gary M.
Very useful. An excellent reference guide. Should take it with you on every trip.
Robert T.
Very handy to use and loaded with good information.
Ron I.
I love this book. Every AS should have this in their kit.
Richard F.
Every Airstreamer should have a copy handy. It covers a wide range of topics which can help resolve issues on the road!
JOHN S.
Very basic general information. If you’re looking for specific maintenance help you won’t find much in this book.
Tracy M.
This little book has some very handy information.
Brad H.
Very comprehensive guide to pretty much every reasonably serviceable item in an Airstream trailer. Spiral binding is especially nice, as it lays open for reference while working.
James M W.
I have been trailering for over 50 years. Reading this book, cover to cover, I realized that there is always something to learn. I was surprised at how well topics were covered and the great organization of the information. Good Job John!

Handy reference manual to have for the Airstream
Ilona A.
The book is well written and very informative. It covers a number of things that are not in the owner's manual. I would highly recommend it.
Wallace N.
Very informative.

Just in case
Whether you are new to Airstreams or not, this book will be invaluable. We are renovating a 1965 Overlander & so much of this book has already come in handy. It has many "ah ha" moments! It will be kept in the trailer with the tools!
David
Excellent
I purchased this book thinking it was a reference, and probably not too detailed at that. I own two vintage Airstreams and have done significant work on both of them, as well as many travel adventures in them.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this maintenance guide. It ought to be included with every new Airstream sold. Rich's writing style is very enjoyable to read, and makes perfect sense. Details like the correct Monroe horizontal shock part number surprised me. The section on weight distribution and weigh scale readings was also excellent, easy to understand. There is no doubt Rich knows the Airstream trailer inside and out.
I highly recommend this book for any Airstream enthusiasts or someone new to the Airstream life. It is even a good read for someone considering an Airstream as both strengths and weakness of the Airstream trailers are discussed.

Indispensable
Cannot believe there are no reviews yet!
If you are new to Airstreaming or planning to purchase an Airstream then buy this book!
If you want to learn how to maintain your Airstream or even if you rely on dealers to do much of the work, then this will help to explain important areas of maintenance and repair - get this book!
Very little duplication from other sources like the owners manual or general RV literature. It does not go into details of every model but would have to be 10x larger to do so (many suggestions and comments are provided regarding research of specific items).
Overall a solid compendium of useful information well organized, easy to read and spiral bound so always lays flat!.
Just a great book and I am very happy to own it - and it saves me from searching the forum most of the time. It will be stored next to the much less substantial owners manual as supplied by Airstream!
FYI - I have no relationship with the author or Airstream Life, I have been RV'ing for 3 years and only this month (09/'15) purchased my first Airstream, a well used 2007 Classic 31. I relied extensively on the book for guidance in the purchase experience and now the refresh and repair of tired items.
