Description
Enjoy air conditioning while boondocking and protect your AC compressor during hot summer brownouts
The EasyStart "Breeze" Soft Starter does both and eliminates the need for a large, expensive generator
How it works
Starting your air conditioner requires a huge and sudden burst of power—often around 50 to 60 amps for a brief period. When you're camping away from shore power this burst of power will overwhelm a typical 2,000 watt generator, causing it to fail or shut off.
The EasyStart Breeze soft starter prevents this sudden demand for power by reducing the startup current by up to 75%, allowing the air conditioner to start more slowly and not overwhelm a small generator.
By eliminating this sudden power demand you can run a typical 13,500 BTU air conditioner on a single 2,000 watt generator!
This makes the EasyStart an ideal accessory for boondocking and dry camping. It also protects your air conditioner compressor from brownouts that are common in campgrounds on hot summer days.
Why you'll love the EasyStart "Breeze"
- Keeps you comfortable during summer boondocking trips – Enables you to run the air conditioner on a small, portable generator
- Eliminates the need for a large, expensive generator – Requires only a 2,000 watt generator to function
-
Protects the AC compressor during summer brownouts – A common problem when everyone in the campground is running their air conditioning on hot days.
Installation
Installation requires getting on the roof and some electrical rewiring at the air conditioning unit. If you are not comfortable with these tasks, professional installation is recommended.

Technical Specifications
Air conditioner rating | Running Amps * | Starting Amps * | Minimum Generator Size WITHOUT EasyStart | Minimum Generator Size WITH EasyStart ** |
13,500 BTU | 15.2 | 55 | 3,500 watts | 2,000 watts |
15,000 BTU | 16.2 | 65 | 4,000 watts | 2,200 watts |
* Amps will vary by manufacturer and model family. These are average estimates.
** Generator size is the rated running watts, assuming starting watt capacity is about 1.4 times more. The minimum generator size also assumes there are no other significant household loads running when the compressor tries to start. Note: Elevation decreases a generator's output by 3.5% per 1000 feet.

FAQ
Will EasyStart allow me to start and run my 13.5K or 15K air conditioner on a Honda EU2200i or similar generator?
Yes, but you must be careful about using other electrical devices, since the air conditioner can consume 1700-1900W in hot weather. Make sure your water heater is running in GAS mode. If your refrigerator has a GAS mode, use that as well. Turn off the inverter (if equipped). You will need to turn off the air conditioner temporarily in order to use the microwave oven.
High altitude can also be a consideration. A 2200-watt generator may not have enough power above 4000 feet.
Do I need an EasyStart for every air conditioner?
Yes, you will need a EasyStart installed on any air conditioner that you want to run on less power.
