Bought this to replace the factory for our 2018 22FB Bambi Airstream as the lock to the "garage" or storage seized up. However this item does not work the lock catch on the rear side does not catch anything it is to short. I am hoping that I can use the original lock catch and use it on this new piece. When in the lock position it is about a 1/2 inch to short. Fortunatly I did not dispose of the original. Otherwise a nice looking addition.

Easy to install but latch doesn’t fit well into recepticle. It requires a little force to get the latch over the lock as it hangs up on the lock.

The adjustment on these locks is very sensitive. If they are even slightly too tight (too much closure force) the exterior latch does not seat properly. Even with the tension set at bare minimum, I have two locks that just wont seat so will likely put back the old latches. As an aircraft mechanic used to working with parts like this, it appears the machining is not well done.

The main reason I bought these locks is to get a different key other than the one used on all other Airsteams. A great benefit is that these locks were very easy to install, and look fantastic. I recommend them completely.

Worst fitting locks for my Globetrotter. Followed your video for adjustment, spoke with your techs too. Nothing worked. Sending them back for refund. On the road out west and will do so when I arrive home. Great looking and appears well made, but DOES NOT work properly for $154.

Obviously a quality product just by the look and feel of them. I can't say they function better than the OEM latches aside from the unique key code. It was easy to "install" each lock but I have found it very challenging to "fine tune." There are several adjustments which compensate for (1) length of pull, (2) tightness of latching , and (3) final position of the latch when locked down. These adjustments are temperamental at best, and frustrating at worst. I have them all properly latching (1) and (2), but the latches themselves will not lay flat in the closed position. The latch clasp stops short of lying flush against the surface of the latch body for some reason I cannot deduce and they look odd like that. They will still lock with the key. ,But they end up sticking out which doesn't look right and doesn't feel secure. To get the hasp to sit flush the latch ends up being too loose for my comfort level. In my second photo you can see one latch hasp is flush and the other one is sticking up.

Great upgrade to keep your expensive items secure, the factory locksets have the same keys! Not very secure! These have about 40 variations and installation took 5 minutes, looks better too!

The central screw was just a bit too short. I could barely grasp it. The tab was built with too much bend in it. I had to put it in a vice & bend it out to get to close properly. Not well engineered in my opinion. I put on 6 of them & they were all the same. The old plastic ones functioned just fine.

Awesome look, awesome quality, awesome security,. A bit pricy but, when I purchased 7 of these locking latches at once, the cost per unit was reduced and became much more reasonable. Very happy with outcome and peace of mind of knowing my exterior compartments are no longer keyed the same as half of the Airstreams on the road today. I would buy them again without any hesitation.

The lock does not "lock". The latch is too short. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM. Air Gear customer service was absolutely terrible. I was told to just use pieces from the original lock which were of course discarded after I installed the replacement lock. I was told, "sorry for your luck". Fortunately, there are more reputable vendors for my Airstream needs.

I have not installed my new locks yet. They look wonderful sitting in the box, though. Airstream is in for service 45 miles from my home. So, give me 45 days and then ask me how impressed I am with them.

Great looking locks. A few issues on the install just for FYI in case someone else runs into this. I ended up using the original screw or bolt for anchoring the lock because mine were about 1/4 inch longer. I also used the original latch. The original latch was much longer and L shaped. I’m not sure I could had ever made the latch that was supplied to work. I also used the old lock washer to make a pair of lock washers at each lock like you suggested in your instructions. Overall everything looks great. We will see how it performs over time. My Airstream is a 2018 International Signature, rear twin bed. Thank you for a great looking product.

The replacement locks look nice, very shiny, and it's better knowing they're more secure. The installation is very easy, however... the nuts are not very well lock-washer secured, which means the nut will unscrew if not addressed with a good lock-washer, and I added Loctite to the threads to make certain.

Great new lock. Frankly, the old lock was terrible. But this new one seems more sturdy (and better looking). The actual locking mechanism is much smoother than the stock lock. Don't forget to keep your old hardware, as you might need the locking arm for this one to work correctly (I did). Would definitely purchase again

Bought the teal shower mat, needed to add something for free shipping, so added the compartment locks for our rear storage door. They are very nice, and a huge upgrade from the originals. They are very well made, fit perfectly and function so smooth. You'll forget the price as soon as you use them, glad we got them.

On the third and last compartment the latch bar was not catching, and a few minutes of thinking about it, I recall somewhere that if the new latches aren't long enough, use the previous ones...and those work fine. I will reuse all of my longer latches for these new ones.

The compartment lock upgrades are a significant improvement over the factory locks. They're much more substantial and look so much better. I truly feel my compartments are now secure. Our original equipment lock failed after 8 years. We could still insert the key but it would not turn. We upgraded all three of our locks with these and are very happy with them. They work better than the original equipment and the key only fits in it the correct way. They also look pretty good!

Placed order for 7 locks on 3/18/24. Did not receive until 4/4/2024. I did send a couple of emails to Airgear in which they were very responsive. I think the USPS Service was the problem. Locks look good and seem more durable than the black. You will find to reuse your old striker plates with new locks. Nice not to be keyed like everyone else.

As the camping world grows larger and camping sites often more remote, the security of gear gathered carefully over time seems more an issue. To have these good looking locks instead of the universal-key locks just makes sense. They look sharp on the rear hatch and my stuff is safely locked up when I'm off hiking.

Easy install, when installing, mine came with a different bolt to remove, that's ok, but when installing, you have to adjust the tightness, so the lock portion is flush, but unfortunately, the one latch does not sit as flush as the other side. Not sure if that is normal. They look nice.

I went for these locks primarily as an upgrade aesthetically. Unfortunately they don't seem to close as easily. It took a number of tries to get the adjustment right to balance the door being tightly shut and being able to snap the lever down and engage with the lock. The OEM locks worked much smoother. Maybe there more refinement needed with my final adjustments or a break-in period.
Having a more unique key than 99% of the population has out there is a huge plus also. But I still have too many keys!!! I just hate how many keys are needed overall. I really wish Airstream could come up with one unique key for the rig that opens everything.
In closing - they do look good and more secure (using a unique key).

Easy to install after the first one. I installed 6 total locks and made all the adjustments in about 45 minutes. Locks look really good. I ended up having to use the locking arm from old locks because the arm that came with new locks was not long enough. I installed locks on a 2019 27’ FBT international with 3 lockers.

The new chrome lock fit perfectly. Remember to save latch from replaced lock since new may not match, as was in my case. I suggest that you amend installation of machine screw with a 3/4" OD fender washer for stiffer install against thin gauge aluminum door panel.

These are very nice, look fantastic and I like having a different key. The only issue is that they can be a bit tricky to close, i.e. the latch doesn't always clear the key hole easily. A bit of wiggling can be necessary. Never had this issue with the originals.

I ordered 3 chrome locks for my new pottery barn AS mainly because I liked the idea of having different locks than everyone else and, chrome, why not.
Once I got them I realized I have three storage units and each unit has 2 locks so I only ordered 1/2 of what was needed. Air Gear didn’t have three more locks with matching keys in stock so we’re nice enough to let me return the three I got for 6. Very easy to install and looks great and the keys don’t stick like the factory ones.

This lock looks nice, and the added security is a plus. But beware, you’ll need to keep the piece from your old lock that goes behind the storage door and holds it shut, because the piece provided with this replacement is not long enough to catch. A funny oversight for a lock made for this purpose…just don’t throw anything away before installing this.
